ABA Providers

Welcome to the ABA provider homepage

The Maryland Department of Health covers medically necessary Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services for Medical Assistance Program enrolled participants under the age of 21. Carelon Behavioral Health Maryland administers the Maryland ABA Program, providing clinical, operational and provider assistance and expertise.

Get started

All eligible providers are required to follow these steps to offer ABA services:

  1. Enroll in the Maryland Medicaid Program through ePREP
  2. Register with Carelon

The state of Maryland has implemented the electronic Provider Revalidation and Enrollment Portal (ePREP). This resource enables online provider enrollment, re-enrollment, revalidation, information updates, and demographic changes. Visit Maryland Medicaid’s ePREP portal to create a user profile or login to an existing account. All ABA providers must have a unique NPI to complete the application.

Carelon ABA provider resources

Once enrolled in Maryland Medicaid, ABA providers will need their Carelon user ID number to access our portals.

Availity Essentials is a secure, one-stop, self-service, multi-payer portal and our preferred choice for direct data entry claim submissions, EDI claims, checking eligibility and benefits, and more.
ProviderConnect is Carelon’s secure, password-protected portal where participating providers conduct certain online activities directly with Carelon  –  24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The ABA Provider Manual is where you will find important information about the ABA services offered in Maryland.
